Jack Nicklaus launched the Golden Bear Tour in 1996
to create an arena in which players could come together to compete
under tournament pressure while developing their mental skills and
physical conditioning.
The Golden Bear Tour was founded based on Jack Nicklaus'
belief that aspiring Buy.com and PGA TOUR players could benefit
not only from keen competition on solid golf courses, but also from
expert physical conditioning and sports psychology. All events are
played within one hour driving distance of West Palm Beach, Florida.
Season: June September
Field: 180
Qualifications: A player who is not
qualified for the PGA TOUR, Buy.Com Tour and European Tour, either
full or conditional status. Effective in 1999, a player may only
compete on the Golden Bear Tour three years in a row. After three
years, a performance review will be required to continue as a member
of the Golden Bear Tour.
Tour Championship: A player must compete
in at least five events to be eligible for the Tour Championship,
as well as meet requirement in place of finish on the official money

any part of the tournament program. Partners must be declared prior
to the first event. Only one partner will be eligible for the Tour
Championship and must have competed in at least five events.

to anyone that qualifies under the guidelines of the Golden Bear
Tour. A player can sell out the season to one player if there are

selling player then becomes ineligible to purchase future events
or compete in the Tour Championship (even if the Tour Championship
requirements have been met).
Buying Spots: A player can buy two spots
maximum (Tour member or non-Tour member) provided he qualifies under
the guidelines of the Golden Bear Tour and has filled out a substitute
player registration form.
